As the highly anticipated beta launch of Diablo 4 approaches, many gamers are eagerly anticipating the first real glimpse into the game's content. With its substantial amount of content, Diablo 4 has the potential to be a major player in the gaming industry in terms of sales. However, the game faces stiff competition from other highly anticipated releases, such as Hogwarts Legacy.

Both Diablo 4 and Hogwarts Legacy have been touted as too good to be true by many gamers. These AAA games have promised to deliver an immersive experience that meets the expectations of their respective fanbases. As a result, many gamers are skeptical of such promises, as previous AAA titles have failed to deliver on such lofty expectations.

Despite these concerns, Hogwarts Legacy was released to positive reviews and fan excitement, selling 12 million copies in just two weeks. While it is not a perfect game, it has exceeded expectations and is on track to sell 20 million copies in its first year. This level of success will be difficult for any game to top this year.

Call of Duty is also a contender, but given the recent turmoil at Activision and debates about whether or not the game will be a "real" Call of Duty title, it is difficult to say how successful it will be. This leaves Diablo 4 as the only serious contender.

Diablo 3 was a massive hit, selling 12 million copies by the end of its first year and 30 million three years later. With its return to a darker tone and focus on gameplay and cinematics, Diablo 4 has the potential to be even more successful than its predecessor.

Despite concerns about the state of Blizzard and the loss of key team members during development, there is nothing in the revealed information or promotion of Diablo 4 that gives pause. If the game can avoid the launch issues that plagued Diablo 3, it has the potential to break records and become one of the best-selling games of the year.

However, with Hogwarts Legacy selling 12 million copies in just two weeks, it will be difficult for Diablo 4 to surpass its success. Both games have multiplatform appeal and are not locked into being an exclusive. The Microsoft Activision deal is not yet finalized, so Diablo 4 will not be launching for free on Game Pass. With so many sales on the table, Diablo 4 still has the potential to be a major player in the gaming industry.

Ultimately, the success of Diablo 4 will depend on whether it can deliver on its promises and meet the expectations of its fanbase. While it may not surpass the success of Hogwarts Legacy, it has the potential to be one of the best-selling games of the year.
