RPF Constable Shoots Dead 4 People on Jaipur Express

Mumbai: Four people were shot dead on board a train from Jaipur to Mumbai on Monday morning. The victims included three passengers and a RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI).

The accused constable, identified as Chetan, has been detained by Mumbai Railway Police. The incident took place in B5 coach of Jaipur Express (train number 12956).

According to a statement by the police, “It was reported on train no 12956 at 5.23 on 31.7.23 that there had been a firing in B5 coach. It was confirmed that CT Chetan in escort duty, had fired on escort incharge ASI Tika Ram. The train has arrived at BVI and, as per advance information, casualties of 3 civilians have also been reported, in addition to ASI. Sr DSC BCT is on the way to the site.”



“The said constable has been caught. DCP North GRP has been informed. Detailed report to follow,” the police statement added.

The motive behind the shooting is not yet known, but police are investigating.

The incident has caused shock and outrage in Mumbai. The local police have set up a special investigation team to probe the matter.

The accused RPF constable is being questioned by the police. He has not yet revealed his motive for the shooting.
